The coloured rubber represents a process of social innovation, which resulted from years of research, and has been responsible for generating social transformation and environmental preservation.
The coloured rubber is produced from wild rubber from the amazonian rainforest. Local tribes harvest rubber sustainably in the form of the latex from the rubber tree. These trees can keep productive for more than fifty years in the wild and generate additional income for local communities who help to preserve large areas of the Amazonian rainforest.

Making a living from the Amazon rainforest products while protecting it from deforestation is called ‘productive conservancy’. Wild rubber is one of these important economic products and this material is one of few social innovations which also acts to improve locals’ quality of life, as for example, by promoting women inclusion. Supporting the rainforest micro-economies means to avoid deforestation, mining, cattle ranch, rivers slit up and to preserve local culture and knowledge about local fauna and flora.
